First Sergeant for the 720th EOD Company out of Baumholder, Germany
1SG David Guyette is a native of San Antonio, Texas who enlisted in the US Army in 2006. After serving as an armor crewman. He attended NAVSCOLEOD at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida in 2009. He completed one deployment to Iraq as an Armored Crewman and four deployments as an EOD team member, team leader, and platoon sergeant in support of Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan (CJSOTF-A) and Special Operations Task Force-Syria (SOTF-S). He was then selected to join the Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) in 2018 where he served as an Asymmetric Warfare Specialist (U9) and Operational Advisor, including deployments to Iraq and Syria. In 2022 1SG Guyette was selected to run the 71st EOD Group Special Operations Forces (SOF) Training Team, where he assessed, trained, and developed EOD technicians for upcoming deployments in support of special operations, with a focus on emerging threats and capabilities. He is currently serving as the First Sergeant for the 720th EOD Company out of Baumholder, Germany.
He has been married to his wife Melissa for 27 years and has five children.
1SG Guyette’s military education includes M1 Armor Crewmember course, NAVSCOLEOD, Global Anti-Terrorism Response Course (GATOR), Advanced IED Defeat (AIEDD), Urban Mobility Breacher Course (UMBC), SF Foreign Weapons Course (SFAFWC), Small Arms Master Gunner (SAMG), and Asymmetric Warfare Group Operator Training Course (OTC) Class 30.
